Artist Statement

The deeply personal language of abstraction allows me to express ideas that are often too fleeting or tangled to otherwise convey. The freedom to play with color and shape as I choose is thrilling. The canvas is both a battleground and a playground, depicting what I hold dear, what I fear, what I am trying to understand. Themes of connection and disjunction run throughout, often focusing on the relationships between humans and nature. I use acrylic paints and mediums, ink, crayon, pencil, and found fibers in my work.
